About

Joey Remmers is a Southern California–based artist and illustrator whose work explores the uneasy space between beauty and danger

Raised in a small mountain town in the San Bernardino Mountains, he developed an early fascination with nature, isolation, folklore, and the hidden threats beneath otherwise peaceful surroundings.

His narrative paintings place solitary figures, animals, and imagined creatures within atmospheric landscapes where something has happened—or is about to. Blending personal symbolism, dark humor, and elements of the natural world, his work invites the viewer to construct a larger story from a single suspended moment.

Remmers spent two decades working professionally as a tattoo artist, before shifting his focus to fine art, illustration, and creative direction. His work has been exhibited and published internationally and is held in private collections around the world.

He currently works as an illustrator and creative director and lives in Los Angeles County, California with his wife and children.
